Day 5: Lazzzzy Day

Today was a fairly laid back day. We woke up to absolutely gorgeous weather. It was cool with a breeze and it stayed that way for the whole day. Because it was so nice, us kids had breakfast outside while Sofia went to dance practice.

After a meal of chocolate crackers (I like this breakfast), Mattia unwillingly went to study while Giancarlo drove Federico, Quinn, and I to the park. We walked around for a bit just enjoying the time outside.

We then climes a billion stairs (I'm not joking) to reach the town square and Federico took us on a tour of his old schools. Quinn and Federico played on the playground of his old elementary school while the little Italian kids watched in horror.

I was too cool as seen here:

It turns out that here in Italy the water fountains look like bowls where you reach inside to turn it on and water shoots straight up into the air. We played around with these making them shoot up like fountains and splash each other.

Gelato was our next stop where I had a flavor called stracciatella, Quinn had Nutella, and Federico had pistachio and some chocolate thing.

Mariella picked us up and in turn we picked Sofia up from dance and came home to eat lunch and lounge around watching tv.

At about 5, Federico and I went to his guitar lesson while Mattia studied and Quinn slept. He has lessons in his church which can be seen here.

The whole family picked us up and we drove to the mall to get shoes and groceries. Car rides are always fun because we crank the windows all the way down and drive super fast. Nobody can see anything and its always really loud. A recipe for good times.

We played ping pong when we got back while the adults cooked and then sat down for a simple meal with just the family. For some reason everyone was hyped up and we laughed loudly over nothing. Coconut ice cream was for dessert and then we crashed on the couch.

  1. Dang. You had chocolate for breakfast, gelato at lunch, and ice cream after dinner?? You lucky thing. I never even noticed Quinn's haircut, but it actually doesn't look that bad. And why aren't you wearing any of those gorgeous dresses you bought especially for the streets and beaches of Italy? Goodness. Miss you! -Natalie
