Day 16: German Girls

I'm unsure of how to exactly start this post. Today was a special kind of day. This morning was uneventful other than the fact that I woke up with throat pains. That's never a good sign. I drugged myself with Advil and fell back asleep for awhile.

Upon waking up and eating breakfast, all the kids went in separate directions of the house. I myself stayed in the living room and read for awhile before hanging out on the boys balcony in the cool air. Storm clouds littered the sky so we thought that it was for sure going to rain.

Throughout lunch (we ate outside) everyone kept looking up for the rain. Giancarlo and Mariella decided to change the original plan of going to see another castle in favor of driving to Giarre and Riposto to look at a church, the sea, and dinner. Mattia sported a new look in the car ride over.

When we got there, the first thing we did was look at a church. The main part was closed due to construction but a man unlocked the front part for us and let us in.

The inside was ornate and beautiful although there were no paintings on the walls or ceiling.

Sofia excused herself for a bit and went to pray. It was super cute.

Giancarlo fetched the car while the rest of us walked down the street a bit.

Despite the bad weather in Pedara, it was gorgeous here. We took a stroll around the coast. There were a lot of fisherman out and one lady even brought her cats out for a picnic. Lonely, aye? Giancarlo attempted to teach me how to skip rocks but I was really horrible.

Giancarlo bought Quinn some fried rice balls to try. I couldn't eat them because they fried fish in the same oil but they looked scrumptious.

As we were walked past this one gelato stand on the way back to the car, I caught the eye of an older gentleman. He kept staring at us until we made it safely in the car. Mattia was the only one else who witnessed it and agreed with me that it was beyond creepy.

It was a short drive to the B&B where we are dinner and as we pulled into the driveway it was like stepping into a fairy tale. Lemon tree orchards lined the driveway with cute stone cottages in between.

There was a fabulous view of the city on one side and a stunning view of the mountains on the other. As we walked to the patio where the restaurant was, I knew we were in trouble. Three blonde teenage girls sat at the table closest to the path.

As the only teenage girl in the party of three teenage boys, I was subject to hear them yap about how beautiful they were for the two hours we were eating. Every moment they got, the boys droned on and on about how they didn't need dessert because it was sitting a few tables over. They took every chance possible up get up between courses and wander by. By the end of the night they discovered that they were German. Sofia also made friends with two young French girls.

While everyone else was admiring the foreigns, I was admiring the food. Four delicious course for one delicious dinner.

After the meat course, the German girls had flocked to the clubhouse where there was ping pong and other games. The boys followed. Federico convinced me to come too and I only did because there was free wifi. While the boys stayed outside, I crashed on the couch and took advantage of the free amenities.

My pain medication had worn off by then so once in the car, I crashed. I remember Mattia at one point asking if I was dead.

Full of food and tired of listening to the boys rant about pretty girls, I went to bed straight away when we got home.

As a side note, I would definitely recommend that B&B to stay at. It was super adorable and clean. That is all.
