I would like to take a moment and apologize to everyone who had to be around me today. I wasn't much fun, I know.
After waking up and eating breakfast like normal, we all went down to the sea. Again, it was extremely hot and miserable. We played around in the water with both the surfboard and the ball and generally just did whatever we wanted. A guy we met two days ago named Luca joined us in our games. The water really dirty today, filled with trash and murky substances. We had to stop playing several times to push the nasty stuff away from us.
The boys, being boys, spotted a cute girl a little bit always so they hit the ball towards her and invited her to play with us. Giulia (Federico's cousin) and I just sort of rolled our eyes. I'm sure that she is a very nice person but I wasn't able to communicate with her because she didn't speak English and I don't speak Italian and it's bit hard trying to speak to someone with four guys fawning over them.
We messed around with the ball until lunch time when we went home. After we ate, the boys went back to the beach while I opted to stay home. They invited me to go on a walk with them and Valeria (the girl) but I was tired and hot and just wanted to shower so I did that.
I cannot emphasis enough how miserably hot the day was. It was so hot that even the thought of going swimming at the beach was disgusting. Moving was effort that I didn't want to exert so I found a place in the shade and played cards by myself for an hour. Giancarlo taught me a new game of solitaire that is based solely on luck. Out of all the games I played, I won zero.
When the kids got back, Luca and Giulia had joined them once more, we tried to play basketball but the game was quickly dispelled as no one wanted to run . Valeria went home then and we had a snack of fried rice sticks before trekking up to Giulia's house to use the wifi.
I skyped Mom and posted a couple of blog entries and all too soon it was dinner time and we had to hike back down the hill. After food we played cards before bed.
I must say that I really hate this weather.
Well, one day when you look back, you will certainly remember the good times rather than the weather. Boo, hot weather. Think cool!
ReplyDeleteAw! It's okay. Like Ms. Pat says, you'll remember it differently later on. I had a really grumpy day in Prague when we went to the castle, and you can see my frown in all the pictures of that day. It's actually quite funny now, I don't even remember what I was mad about... -Nat
